Even for the most accomplished players, the majority of a judoka's time on the mat is spent training, with only a small element spent in competition. For most players this is in the club environment. Westcroft Judo Club (Nork) offers the following opportunities with the club for all to participate in:
- Annual march in the Banstead May Parade (early May)
- Annual Trip to the tournament in Marcinelle, Belgium (late May each year)
- Annual Summer Camp (last week of August)
- Samurai Sam Club Tournament (either to compete in or help officiate/referee - twice a year)
- Regluar Technical Gradings for all ages
- "Half Black Belt" Awarded to a player in each class every session
- Olympian Scheme to promote participation in tournaments
- Support Judo Diary Scheme (including stickers)
- Annual Christmas Party and Annual Awards Ceremony
- Participation in the trials and main events for the Surrey Youth Games and London Youth Games
- Encourage senior members to become coaches, referees, table officials etc
