Training @ Westcroft Judo (Nork)

The following table summarises the training expectations in order to achieve progression through the grading system or to achieve competitive success.  In general, only under 10s train less than twice a week.

Players may do judo for other goals/reasons and choose to train less often than that outlined below.  However, expectations around competitive success and technical grading success need to be proportional to the training undertaken.  For example higher mon grades (green, blue brown) are unlikely to be achieved on one session a week.

*Note that minimum “time in grade” requirements for dan (black belt) grades are based on the following

 Each 1 year = 50 weeks x 2 sessions x 90 minutes = 100 sessions or 150 hours of judo training.

So for competitive 1st dan, 6 months = 50 sessions of judo training on the mat, for competitive 5th dan, 4 years = 600 hours of judo training on the mat.
